Cookie & Privacy Choices

A plain explanation of what selvia.fi stores or reads on your device, and why. There is no banner on this page because there is currently nothing optional for you to accept or reject.

1.The short answer

Currently, selvia.fi sets no cookies for visitors and uses no optional analytics, advertising or marketing technology. Because there is nothing optional today for you to consent to, this page has no cookie banner, no “Accept all” and no “Reject all”.

We still explain exactly what the website does use below, including the purely technical parts, so this page is accurate rather than a placeholder.

2.What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small piece of information a website can leave on your device so it can recognise your browser later. Websites can also use similar techniques — such as localStorage, sessionStorage or device fingerprinting — for the same purpose. EU and Finnish law treat all of these the same way: storing or reading anything on your device generally needs your consent, unless it is strictly necessary for a service you have asked for.

3.What selvia.fi uses, and why it needs no consent

  • Automatic light/dark appearance — selvia.fi matches your device or browser's own light/dark setting using CSS alone. Nothing is stored for this; your device already remembers its own setting.
  • A one-time technical clean-up — selvia.fi used to have a manual light/dark switch. That switch is gone, but a short script still checks, once, whether your browser kept the old setting from it, and deletes it if so. It never reads that value, never sends it anywhere, and stores nothing new. Once that leftover setting is gone, there is nothing left for this script to do.
  • Selvia's staff sign-in — the private back office Selvia staff use to run the business sets a sign-in cookie so a signed-in staff member stays signed in. It exists only for staff who have explicitly signed in there, is never set for a visitor to this public website, and the public website never asks you to accept it.

4.What selvia.fi does not use

  • No analytics or statistics cookies — no Google Analytics or similar, on this website.
  • No advertising or marketing pixels — no Meta/Facebook Pixel or similar.
  • No session-recording or heatmap tools — no Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity or similar.
  • No CAPTCHA — the Contact and Account Deletion forms are protected on our server, not with a visitor-facing challenge.
  • No cross-site tracking, device fingerprinting or A/B testing.
  • No Vercel Analytics and no Vercel Speed Insights, even though selvia.fi happens to be hosted on Vercel.

5.Fonts

selvia.fi's typefaces — including the ones that come from Google — are built into the website itself: the font files are downloaded once when the website is built and are then served from selvia.fi. Your browser never connects to Google, or any other font provider, to show this site.

6.Language (English / Finnish)

Which language you see is decided only by the address you're on — selvia.fi for English, selvia.fi/fi/… for Finnish. Nothing about that choice is stored on your device; switching language is simply visiting a different address.

8.Selvia's staff back office

Selvia also runs a private back office that only Selvia staff sign in to — a different application from this public website. It needs a sign-in cookie to work, the same way any account-based service does, so a signed-in staff member isn't asked to sign in again on every page. Because that cookie exists purely to keep a signed-in staff member signed in, it needs no consent banner, and it is never set for, or shown to, a visitor of the public website.

9.If this ever changes

If Selvia introduces an optional technology such as analytics, advertising or marketing measurement in the future, we will update this page and the Privacy Policy first, and — where the law requires it — ask for your consent before that technology is activated, with a real choice to accept or decline.
