Account & Data Deletion

You can ask us to delete your Selvia account and the personal data linked to it. This page explains how to make that request, how we verify it, what is deleted, what we may be legally required to keep, and how long the process takes.

Effective date: July 2026selvia.fiinfo@selvia.fiFinland

Ready to request deletion?

Send the request from the email address connected to your Selvia account so we can verify it belongs to you.

Section 1

How to request deletion

There are two ways to start an account deletion request. Both reach the same team and follow the same review process.

From inside the Selvia mobile app

Open Settings, then Security, then Delete account, and confirm. This opens a support request asking us to permanently delete your account and associated personal data. You can follow the request in the support thread inside the app.

By email

Send a request to:

Emailinfo@selvia.fi
SubjectAccount deletion request

Please email from the address connected to your Selvia account. This helps us confirm the request comes from the account holder.

Never send us:

  • your password or any login credentials
  • payment-card numbers or full bank details
  • identity documents we have not specifically asked for

Section 2

Information to include

To help us locate the correct account, please include:

  • the email address used for your Selvia account
  • your full name
  • your business or organisation name, where relevant
  • a clear confirmation that you are requesting account deletion

Section 3

Identity verification

Before we delete an account, we may ask you to complete reasonable verification steps. This protects your business records against unauthorised or malicious deletion requests.

Where an account is connected to a company, we may also need to confirm that you are authorised to act on behalf of that business. We only ask for what is necessary to establish that the request is genuine.

Section 4

What happens after the request

Once we receive your request, we follow these steps:

  1. Acknowledgement. We confirm that we have received your request.
  2. Verification. We verify your identity and confirm ownership of the account.
  3. Authority check. Where a business account is involved, we confirm your role or authority to request deletion.
  4. Legal retention review. We review which records we are required to keep under Finnish accounting, VAT and tax obligations.
  5. Action. We delete, anonymise or restrict the relevant personal data, as appropriate for each category.
  6. Confirmation. We confirm to you when the request has been completed.

Section 5

Data normally deleted

Subject to the legal retention review described above, an account deletion normally covers:

  • account profile and contact details
  • authentication identifiers and active sessions
  • application preferences and settings
  • device registrations and push-notification tokens
  • support communications no longer required
  • usage data that we are not required to keep
  • other personal data linked only to your account
Deletion is applied to live systems first. Copies held in secure backups and disaster-recovery systems are removed or overwritten as those backups age out on their normal cycle. We cannot promise instant erasure from every backup, and any remaining copies stay protected and are not used for ordinary business purposes in the meantime.

Section 6

Data that may be retained

Because Selvia handles accounting and financial records, some information cannot simply be erased on request. We may need to keep limited data where it is required for:

  • Finnish accounting obligations
  • VAT and tax compliance
  • fraud prevention and platform security
  • establishing, exercising or defending legal claims
  • contractual or payment obligations
  • regulatory or audit requirements

Anything we retain for these reasons is limited to what the obligation requires, kept under the same security controls described in our Privacy Policy, and deleted or anonymised once the obligation expires.

Section 7

Processing time

We aim to acknowledge requests promptly and respond within the time required by applicable data-protection law. Under GDPR, requests are normally handled within one month after receipt and any necessary identity verification. In permitted cases, the period may be extended, and we will explain the reason.

Section 8

Consequences of deletion

Please read this section carefully before requesting deletion.

  • Deletion may be irreversible. We may not be able to restore your account or its contents afterwards.
  • Your access to the Selvia platform and mobile app will end.
  • Active sessions may be terminated on all devices.
  • Some financial, accounting or statutory records may remain where the law requires us to keep them.
  • Deleting the app from your device does not delete your account. The app and the account are separate.
  • Cancelling a subscription and deleting an account are not necessarily the same action. You may need to do both.
  • Outstanding obligations, such as unpaid invoices or amounts due, remain in force after deletion.

If you want a copy of your data, request it before asking us to delete the account.

Section 9

Deleting specific data only

You do not have to delete your whole account to exercise your rights. You can also ask us to correct inaccurate information, or to delete specific items of personal data, while keeping the account active.

These requests are handled the same way and are subject to the same legal restrictions. Where a record must be retained for accounting, VAT or other statutory reasons, we will tell you and explain why.
